Unlike the pre-washed 501, this is rigid, non-stretch 100% cotton denim you shrink to your own body — no tailor required. It sits at your waist with a regular fit through the thigh and a classic straight leg, finished with the signature button fly instead of a zipper.
Because these run unwashed, sizing works differently than most jeans on our shelves. Buy true to size in the waist and two sizes up in length if you plan to wear them in the tub and let them dry on your body for a true custom shrink. Prefer to machine wash and dry instead? Order up 1 in. in the waist for sizes 27 in.-36 in. (2 in. for 38 in.-48 in., 3 in. for 50 in. and up) and 3 in.-4 in. in the length, since the denim shrinks roughly 10% in the wash.
